From Vision to Reality
Follow the key moments that brought AREA15 from concept to cultural landmark.
FALL 2015-2018
Ideation and Design.
The Challenge: 80 acres of land that needed an identity and purpose in Las Vegas. Break the gravitational pull of the strip and provide a destination and experience that Did Not Exist in Las Vegas or anywhere else in the world. Fisher Brothers and Beneville Studios begin dreaming. Early idea sessions run for days on end as the founding team coalesces around the idea that would be AREA15.
SPRING 2018-OPENING
Discovery and Creation.
The founding team scours the globe searching for art, experiences, and ideas to showcase at a never-before-seen entertainment district. This leads to early collaborations with Meow Wolf, Chris Wink, Josh Levine and an extraordinary roster of other world-renowned artists and experience makers.
MAY 3, 2018
Construction Commences.
Just minutes from the Strip and miles from ordinary, Fisher Brothers breaks ground on the main bunker. A two level black box built to house the best-in-class art and entertainment infrastructure in the world. Building a box that needed to plan for the current and adapt to the future was the mission.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2020
Let's Blow the Doors Off.
AREA15 opens during COVID to worldwide fanfare. Despite reduced capacity, it becomes an immediate Las Vegas staple — welcoming 4 million guests and taking home the title of Most Visited Attraction in the Unites States, year after year.
SEPTEMBER 2021
One-Year AREA-versary
AREA15 celebrates welcoming 2 million visitors and 10 new experiences and is named No. 1 Best Immersive Art Experience by USA Today 10Best in its first full year of operations.
MARCH 2023
Most Visited Attraction in the United States
AREA15 announces it welcomed more than 3.3 million visitors in 2022 and ranked as the No. 1 most-visited attraction in the United States by Placer.ai, the leading location analytics and foot traffic data tracker.
NOVEMBER 2023–FEBRUARY 2025
It's Growing.
Fueled by the success of the main bunker, AREA15 breaks ground on Zone 2: The Terminals — expanding into a full entertainment district with new anchor attractions, experiential landscaping, and deeper art programming. The crown jewel arrives February 2025, when tractor-trailers haul a legendary 747 fuselage through the Las Vegas valley to its permanent home at AREA15. Born as the world's largest art car at Burning Man 2017, it's reborn as Altair — the spectacular, next-generation nightlife centerpiece of Zone 2.
AUGUST 14, 2025
Zone 2 Is Ready for Takeoff.
In a spectacular launch event presided over by the Mayor of Las Vegas, Zone 2 opens its doors. Highlights include Universal Horror Unleashed, Museum of Ice Cream, Interstellar, and the full conversion of the 747 into a first-of-its-kind ultra lounge.
